INSTRUCTOR BIO

 |
Gary Wilson is a Microsoft Certified
Professional, Microsoft Certified Trainer and Microsoft Certified Solution
Developer.
Gary has over 15 years of experience with
micro-computers. Before working with Access, Gary developed applications with
DataEase, a relational database management system used by many Fortune 1000
companies during the late 80's.
|
Since 1996 Gary has taught a variety of classes at Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin including Windows 95 ®, Internet, Excel ®, Access ® and PowerPoint
®. In 1997 Gary began developing databases with Microsoft Access. Gary’s development projects have included an engineering database for Best Power, a procurement database for Organic Valley and a meter database for Dairyland Power.
One current project is a student employment application installed in twelve technical colleges in Wisconsin. This secure multi-user application includes an Access front-end for data-entry and a Web interface for students.
A Visual Basic starter application is used to check for new application versions on a network server. Another Visual Basic application is used to distribute customized queries, forms and reports to individual installations of TechConnect. This allows each college to have a customized version of the application yet still add new or updated database objects without overwriting the main application database.
The latest version of this project includes a central SQL Server database used to store jobs, employer and contact information. This database has a web interface for Wisconsin employers to user when posting new jobs. It also downloads job, employer and contact information to local college databases.
Since August 1, 2001 Gary has served as the senior
Access database administrator for CybrCollect of La Crosse, WI. CybrCollect has
quickly grown to become one of the top companies in the United States for
processing NSF checks for businesses large and small. Clients range from small
convenience stores to national chains like Hy-Vee, Subway and Pizza Hut. The
Access database is used to process all checks received, transmit to the
automated clearing house, pay stores and clients via electronic fund transfers,
email and fax reports and export forward to collections reports. The application
incorporates a third party image control from Lead Tools Technology to better
display images imported from AutoScan. AutoScan is software designed by
VisionShape to work with a high speed scanner. The application also works with
GFI Faxmaker software to automate sending hundreds of faxes per week. CDONTS is
used to automate sending hundreds of emails per week. It is a very dynamic
application that must respond quickly to the needs of a rapidly growing company. |
